So I uninstalled FSX via the Control Panel/Add and Rermove Programs. BTW, FSX is loaded on a separate, internally installed 1 terabyte harddrive (D within my computer. Some software had to be reloaded, but then ran perfectly fine. Some software worked properly without having to do anything. he warned me that while everything was operating again, I would probably have to reload some software. Apparently, my XP disc just wouldn't work and he ended up installing it from one of his own oem discs. It took him several days, but he did finally get my operating system reinstalled and rumnning properly (XP 32 bit). Took my computer to my repairman (professional), after looking it over for a day or so he tells me my power supply was failing and sending out random voltage spikes which were obviously not doing my computer any good.
Some programs worked fine but others didn't. Ībout two weeks ago, my computer started doing crazy things. I've installed and uninstalled FS many times over the years without problems, but this time is different. Thanks in advance.I've been a Flight Simmer for many years now (fs200 thru FSX). I've enjoyed fake flying so much that I'm willing to spend some money to get my machine into the required shape to make FSX run reliably, so any expert advice from you veteran simmers would be appreciated. I'm also looking for some way to understand why a program that runs just fine for a week or ten days suddenly misbehaves so badly I have to resintall the operating system. Specifically, I'm thinking of upgrading the video to something with 512 megs on it, and perhaps another gig of RAM (if I can afford it). I'm looking for some advice when I rebuild. I've got a Dell 670 Precision: dual 2.8 ghz processors, 3 gigs RAM, 256 megs on the Nvidia Geforce, acres of disc space. it has become such a mess that I'm looking at formatting and rebuilding. This last time around, the freezing and crashing really hosed my computer: IE stopped working, right click menus disappeared from everywhere, key combinations to copy text to the clipboard stopped working. I've had to reinstall it five times since Christmas. However, like I've read so often in these posts, the software has a bad habit of freezing at the splash screen and requiring two or more reinstallations before it will run again. I just got FSX last Christmas and, when I can keep it running, I've really enjoyed playing with it.
